Alabaster caverns

I've been busy with portraits of extended family members lately, so I'm having to dig through some older files. We took to Alabaster Caverns, near Woodward, Oklahoma, in 2009. Beautiful place! This is on one of the hiking trails in the park.

I'm pouting cuz my Santa's not being nice!

This just made me laugh, I had to snap a quick shot of it.

Yes, I'm pouting. LOL And, you can call me childish if you want, and, it wouldn't be wrong if you did! LOL

Do-overs!

OK, so, haven't posted in months. I could go on about what a completely awful stressful worse time of my life summer that we went through. But, I won't bore you with the details. Be thankful for that.

I will say that things are looking up and going so much better around here. I cannot wait for Christmas!

So, I am declaring "Do-overs!" on my little blog, and starting over!

Here's a peek at some of the things that have been keeping us busy around here the past couple of months:

This is what happens when your 18 year old son brings home a stray German Shorthair Pointer,
begs and pleads, and you let him keep him.
Then, a few months later, your "show" lab comes in heat...
Parents go to work...
your 10 year old son sees an opportunity to get the puppy he's been asking for...
and opens the door that's been keeping the 2 seperated.

This is the first "Oops!" litter any of my dogs have had my entire life!

In case you're wondering, the 3 boys have convinced Dad that we're keeping 3 of them, not just the 2 he wanted to keep.

So much for the 2nd Papillon I was hoping to get next year...LOL

I like landscape pictures that other people take. Mine usually look boring to me. This one's not too bad.

First serious try at dirtbikes

So, today was one of those "Life Interfered" days. I have those fairly often, I'll have things that I really want to get done for myself, but then, other stuff goes on, and what I wanted to get done doesn't. I'm NOT complaining, just stating facts. Someday, the kids will all be grown, and I'll have too much time on my hands - and that day's coming too fast. As emphasized by the to-do list of things to be done for my oldest son's graduation coming up waaaaayyy too fast!

So, I wasn't able to get the camera out today, and I'm just not feeling creative to do it now.

I thought I'd pull out a couple of a type of photography my life is now presenting me with the opportunity to start trying - high-speed/sport - dirtbikes to be exact. In other words, one of nephews and my youngest son are getting into racing, and they want "cool pictures" of themselves showing off.

Here are a couple of my first serious attempts at this. In the coming months, there will be more, and hopefully, they'll be better!

Any suggestions for improvement? Feel free to comment, I've got thick skin. ;)

Sunset

Found the cord!

I took these about sunset last night.

Not sure if I like this one or not, I liked the way the sun was hitting the tree, but I think it's too dark.
My youngest son really likes this one.

Comments? Good or bad

Getting Started

I've heard several times that one way of improving your photography is to do a photo a day project. I've thought about doing that for a long time, but always have several excuses why not - my photos aren't good enough to post anywhere, my life gets crazy, and I don't always have time to post everyday, somedays I don't even have time to pick up my camera! Or, it could be like what's happened today, I took pictures, but I can't find the cord to connect to the computer.

I've decided enough excuses! So what if they're not good enough - that's why I'm doing this, to improve! So what if I don't have time every single day, that's why I named this "of the moment": some days I won't have time for any, some days, there'll be several. Some may even be taken the same day I get them posted!

So, here's my first picture, taken a couple weeks ago.
